I’m not going to lie, these last few weeks for me have been spent in a dark place mentally. However, I’ve been spending a lot of time self reflecting and becoming aware of the triggers and what causes it, and paying attention to the patters that help me pull back out of it. So, I wanted to share my thoughts I’ve been having lately on this because I want to help anyone going through this same thing right now.
.
For me, I’ve learned that stress is the first trigger for me to get into a dark headspace.
.
That stress, if it becomes overwhelming, turns into anxiety.
.
If the anxiety is not addressed, it quickly turns into depression.
.
Next thing you know, you have all 3 of the amigos having party in your head and you enter that “dark space”.
.
I’ve tried everything you can name to pull myself out of this dark place.
.
I’ve learned most people suggest “creating balance” to get better.
.
“They” recommend creating balance by adding things to your life…
.
But for me it’s never been adding that’s helped me get better. In fact, Adding more things to do everyday to get better, only adds to my stress.
.
So what I’ve found is that in order for me to heal and get better, I need to SUBTRACT things, and not add them.
.
I subtract things, by getting things done.
.
Have a huge pile of things at work that need to get done? Get them done.
.
Have phone calls to make? Get them done. .
Needing to have hard conversations? Get them done.
.
Needing to get back on track with your bills? Pay them, and get it done.
.
The second I’ve subtracted everything back down to par… that party in my head ends.
.
I feel better, I can relax, my mental state returns to normal, and I have officially gotten out of that mentally dark space
.
It took a lot to dig this deep and recognize these patterns. I know it helps me, and I hope it can help you too.
.
