Its absolutely fascinating what happens once you start making some good money and have to completely re-evaluate what you want to spend your money on because the “things” you thought you wanted are no longer cutting it for you.
.
For me... that new “thing” has become helping others in any way I possibly can.
.
It’s leaving a $100 tip to the musician who’s performing at a bar because you know they took the chance on themselves that you once had to take and you want to support them.
.
It’s paying a tattoo artist 2x their rate, just to show them someone’s willing to pay that much for their time and talent because that’s what it took along your journey to increase your rates.
.
It’s getting a group of friends together to do a $100 dinner club, because you know a restaurant just opened and is struggling to keep its doors open and you want to show them they light so they don’t give up on their dreams like you almost did once.
.
It’s raising tens of thousands of dollars for a non-profit your mom started because you want to support her in chasing her dreams just like she did for yours your entire life.
.
It’s seeing a waiter or waitress bust their ass off trying to make ends meet, and leaving them a tip larger than your bill because you want to show them that hard work really does pay off.
.
The examples above are all things I’ve personally done and I can tell you the feeling of gratitude and the overwhelming feeling of fulfillment I get using my money in this way… it’s something you can’t even put into words.
.
Don’t get me wrong… all the cars, watches, shoes, toys, etc are fun and all… and what you decide to spend your money on is up to you.
.
But for me it’s now become that moment when see someone’s face light up, and you see it in their eyes that they realize chasing their own dream is actually possible and the work they’re putting in is paying off.
.
Knowing what it’s like to be in their position, and seeing it from the other side is one hell of an emotional experience that you will NEVER be able to put a price tag on… and those are the experiences and the moments I’ll spend my money on till the day I die.
